Welcome to San Diego County Tennis….

Friday, November 14th, 2008

A number of San Diego tennis enthusiasts have recently formed a committee to address our concerns about the future of tennis in San Diego. We are currently made up of tennis professionals, club managers and tennis court builders. We are not in this for financial gain. We simply see something that is missing in our community. Our goal is to find ways to improve how tennis information is accessed. Currently San Diego has a separate association for adults and juniors. Our teaching pro organizations are also separate. We have no intentions of attempting to combine those groups. Rather, we want to gather all the knowledge and information out there and put it on one central website. By pushing one button on your keyboard you will be able to link to anything and everything important to new and existing players. There will be a calender of all tennis events in the county. We will develop a map of and link to all tennis facilities in the county. Eventually, as the site improves and receives a substantial amount of interest, we could consider selling advertising. That is down the road and any income it does generate could be used for any number of things. From tennis equipment at schools to nets and windscreen at public courts. Our idea is not new. There are other cities in the country already doing this kind of thing. But it is overdue for San Diego County. In the meantime, if you want information about adult tennis you can go to www.sandiegotennis.com, junior tennis go to www.tennissandiego.com, or finding a teaching pro try www.uspta.org. Thanks for your time and any feedback you might have.
